Easy Sudoku
Easy sudoku is the same puzzle as any other sudoku: fill the grid so that every row, every column and every box holds each digit once. What changes is how much the grid gives you at the start. An easy board comes with many numbers already placed, so most empty cells can be solved by simple scanning — look along a row, a column and a box, and see which digit is still missing.
Every game in this section offers a level meant for beginners. We only list a game here when its own description names an easy or beginner level, so the choice below is not a guess about how hard a board feels.
Our Daily Sudoku is the simplest place to start: its easy setting is the first of five levels, and the board changes every day. Well Sudoku says plainly that it is made for players who like easy sudoku and a relaxed pace. Sudoku on 4x4 and 6x6 boards is a gentler entry still, because a smaller grid has fewer places for a digit to hide; the Basic level of that game is where most beginners should begin. What makes a sudoku easy?
The number of digits given at the start. Easy boards give more of them, so each missing digit can usually be found by checking one row, column and box.
Do I need to guess on an easy board?
No. A well-made easy sudoku can always be solved by elimination alone.
Is the rule different on smaller grids?
No. A 4x4 or 6x6 sudoku uses the same one-of-each rule on fewer cells, which makes it a good first step.
